There are few pure terraria in existence, but you will find one near the small village Vissenbjerg on Funen (south east of Odense), – on a side road to E 335 It was founded by Carl Aage Gram in 1973, and is now lead by Klaus Dræby. Though totally private, it has the greatest collection of reptiles and amphibians in Scandinavia, even counting the big zoos. There are also some small monkeys (tamarins). It deserves to be mentioned not least for the infamous part played by the blockhead bureaucrats of the County of Funen, who tried to forbid the road signs showing the way to the attraction. However public opinion and a stern admonition from the Ministry of Traffic in Copenhagen forced them to give in, and the Terrarium survived.

In the area you also find an Aquarium, Vissenbjerg Aquarium at Roldvej 53, 5492 Vissenbjerg . But I have not been there for many years (owing to the problems of getting to the place without a car), so I cannot really say what they've got now.

And apart from that, you find an aquarium with 100 tanks and 250 species at Spodsbjerg 193, Skrøbelev, 5900 Rudkoebing (in the middle of the island of Langeland), – but I have not been there yet. Homepage: www.aquazoo.dk
