From Klaipeda old town take the short ferry trip to Smiltyné, right across the harbour. Known as Memel during the long German settlement period, Klaipeda has long been a strong maritime stronghold, and the aquarium has been built right into one of the circular forts from past times. The dolphinarium occupies a specially built newer building, and a third building is used for ticket sale and administration. Within the thick walls there are long corridors and small claustrophobic rooms; a modest marine museum occupies some of these rooms. While visiting the aquarium, I didn't take care write down the names of single fish species, but it is a quite comprehensive collection, spaced out on two floors inside a round central building within the old fortress. It is a general aquarium collection: there are both fish from temperate/polar regions and from the tropic waters Outside this building you will find several kinds of seals and sea lions, plus penguins. As for the dolphinarium, it has got 5 bootlenosed Black Sea dolphins. They make the usual series of tricks, such as wiggling, clapping the water with their tails, jumping through rings, playing ball and making high-pitched noises. When you have visited this place, you should take a bus down the Neringa, the narrow Couronian Spit. It has been made a National Park and is well worth seeing.
