Official Description

Semi-Official Description (From Heidi Good)

“I found your site on the web while searching specifically for Good Zoo in Wheeling, WV – USA.

Your site is well designed and very informative. As the Zoo I was searching for not on your list, but is very important in my life, I wanted to give you information about that zoo and perhaps it too will be added to your listing.

The Good Zoo, in Oglebay Park within Wheeling, West Virginia, is the only zoo in the state of West Virginia, having accredidation by the AZA soon after its inception.  Good Zoo was begun by my family in the early 70's as a living tribute to the memory of my brother, Philip Mayer Good, who died of a brain tumor at the young age of 7.

Originally, this zoo was founded as children's zoo for North American animals.  We have since added animals from various countries outside of N. America and are extremely involved in the endangered species breeding program, specifically breeding Red Wolves.

Sincerely,
Heidi Good”
