Visitor Reviews Review submitted by Neils Johs. Legarth Iversen: January 2001 Fleay's Fauna center is situated a kilometer or so inland from Burleigh Head, a small town south of Brisbane on Australian Gold Coast. It is a center where you can check out the Australien fauna, with sections such as an eucalyptus forest walk, a rainforest, a she-oak swamp, a wetland panorama and the Moon Dam wetlands. It all sounds very well, but when I visited it in the middle of the nineties, I was a bit disappointed: much of it consisted of a group of rather unimaginative enclosures with just a few animals in them. I saw in fact more birds and reptiles from the boardwalk outside in the swamp between the town and the Fauna center than I saw inside the latter, – only the mammals were more abundant inside. However half a decade has passed, and maybe they have increased the number of animals on view since then. Submit a review.
