Travelling from the direction Sömmerda on the A71
"Exit 8" (Stotternheimer Straße) turn right towards the city centre -> turn right towards "Am Roten Berg" -> turn right at the "Bonhoefferstraße" and then follow the street till you arrive at the Zoo. Follow the yellow signs "P Zoo".
Travelling from the direction Schweinfurt on the A71
"Exit 9" (Mittelhäuser Straße) turn right towards the city centre -> follow the "August-Röbling-Straße" and turn left towards "Am Roten Berg" -> turn left at the "Bonhoefferstraße" and then follow the street till you arrive at the Zoo
Traveling on the B 4
Exit "Marbach", follow the "Straße der Nationen" towards "Roter Berg" till traffic lights at Bonhoefferstraße, turn left and then follow the street till you arrive at the Zoo. Follow the yellow signs "P Zoo"

Official Description The zoo on the Red Mountain (Roter Berg) The Thüringer Zoopark is situated in the north of Erfurt on a hill called "Red Mountain". Erfurt is the capital of the federal state Thüringia, . Enjoy a wonderful view of the city with many towers and the surroundings from the hill top. Exotics and Natives Next to classical zoo animals like giraffes, rhinos, African lions, zebras and elephants the zoo also shows very rare species like barbary lions and Nilgiri langurs. A variety of frogs, reptilians, birds and small mammals lives in the Elephant House. Not to forget the horses, ponies, donkeys, camels, sheeps, goats and many other pet and domestic animals. Novelties New in the zoo: The Flamingo lagoon for 30 Greater flamingos. The beautiful and graceful birds can be seen in the large aviary next to the main entrance. Behind this enclosure arises, in 2010, the big Africa savannah for zebras, antelopes and ostrich. Festivities in the Zoo The zoo organizes every year several special events. For children’s birthday parties or companies parties, the guided tour, which will take you behind the scenes, are a special experience. In the spring-, summer- and autumn vacation there is a special vacation program which will teach you many interesting and amazing facts about the Zoopark. Petting, playing and eating For the children there is a large playground and a petting zoo with pygmy goats. In the direct area you can find the Zoopark- restaurant ,Weinberghaus and the new build Cafeteria with a terrace, Hakuna Matata. This gives you the opportunity to enjoy a cup of coffee in peace while the children are occupied. Come to the Zoo to have a beautiful day in relaxing atmosphere!
